               SISTER MARIA CORNELIA RAMIREZ, RVM

Sister Cornelia started her postulancy in the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary when she was eighteen and was in the Philippines until 1967.

 After she professed perpetual vows,  she was sent to  Las Vegas, Nevada  to teach at  St. Viator School  and then,  to  Sacramento, California  where  she  finished a Master’s  degree  in  Education  at California State University. After graduation, she was transferred to Arkansas where she served as teacher and principal of Holy Redeemer School. She was also assigned as educator and school administrator in Hawaii, California and New Jersey.

During her short sabbatical leave in 2004, she had the opportunity to be with other religious in a spiritual renewal program called “Joining the Mystics” at St. Ignatius Retreat Centre in Long Island, New York. Right after this spiritual enrichment program, she flew to Toronto and had her retreat at Loyola Retreat House in Guelph, Ontario.

From Toronto, she flew to Edmonton to start her new ministry as Sacramental Preparation coordinator at St. Theresa’s parish.

Sister Cornelia enjoys reading, watching funny movies and travelling to places where she can participate in workshops and seminars which enhance spiritual and professional growth.
