3. From the notes that Father Martin had left for Father Mike for this meeting.  Father Mike spoke about the following:

a. New Church:  Discussions for a new church are ongoing.  Father Mike feels personally that a new Church is a wonderful idea.

6. Update on Status of:

a. New RC Parish in Millwoods:  The dividing line for new parish in Mill Woods will be the east side of 50th Street continuing east.  West of 50th Street will continue to be in the community of St. Theresa's.  It will be built at 28A Avenue and 34 Street.

b. New church:  Last year it was announced that there would only be one Church for this area.  That is not the case now.  St. Theresa's will remain for the community west of 50 Street and a new church will be built for east of 50 Street.

d. Sunday Masses in schools re: new parish: To assist in obtaining enough people to help with the various ministries required in a parish, Sunday Masses will be held in Father Michael Troy and Holy Family schools.  Several people are showing an interest to help in the formation of the ministries and helping to schedule Mass times.  Father Martin will be canvassing with Archbishop Collins with respect to possibly having another priest help with the extra Masses in these schools.

A concern was raised about the formation of the Ministries at the schools causing a possible shortage of people for the different ministries at St. Theresa's.  It is hoped that families that will be forming the new parish will volunteer for these ministries so as not to cause a shortage at St. Theresa's.  Father Mike said that it was a concern, but it is hoped that people who are involved at St. Theresa's and live east of 50 Street will give up their position here at St. Theresa's, to create a hole, with the hope that other parishioners of St. Theresa's will take the responsibility to step forward to 'fill in the holes that would be created so that neither St. Theresa's nor the new parish would be short of volunteers in the different ministries.

It was asked that everyone reflect on this, as we know a new parish is going to happen...it is known with certainty there will be a new Parish.  So it is hoped with the increase in the population, that more people will 'feed' this new parish and become involved.

CORPUS CHRISTI PARISH

Masses were continuing on this year at Fr. Michael Troy and Holy Family schools.  The numbers are improving and growing each few months and a sense of community is is building with a good core group from both schools forming and participating in our ad-hoc parish council.  There does, however, seem to stronger and more consistent ministry support from Holy Family's group.

This past year, we had Christmas masses at both schools that were well attended (double the normal Sunday numbers).  Advertising monies spent produced fruitful returns.  Children server's ministries participated in a small Christmas gathering event that was well received and attended.

Both schools had school scheduling problems that resulted in mass being cancelled and even mass being celebrated in the parking lot.  It served to underscore our need and commitment to move ahead with new building facilities of our own.  A new hall on the church site would help unite our two camps together, and alleviate our reliance to the school board.  The rent money that we pay would be better to go to a facility that we control and make our temporary worshipping home until the church is built.

Our outdoor mass scheduled for June 18 is expected to be an exciting historical day in the life of our new parish.  It is expected at this mass (by the time you read this it will likely be done) we will receive our new name and patron identity.  Visit Parish Name

I know that it is difficult to get in the swing of a new church, particularly when the endeavour seems to want to divide St. Theresa's current family.  As I have said on several occasions, the east of 50 Street parish will be like a sister growing up in a larger family who forges out on her own into the big world to play the role that God has destined for her.  I am confident that our big sister, St. Theresa's will wish us well and we will continue to serve the growing Catholic community of Mill Woods.

As we move closer to starting the construction of new chuch and hall buildings, let us remember our baptismal and confirmation commitments to answer the cal to obedient service of god, and to use our given talents and gifts to be present in the world for Him..to exercise our commitment to stewardship in its many forms.

God bless you all and full steam ahead.
