Answers:
1. When can we expect to start building with ground breaking?
In order to "break ground" or start construction, the parish must have half of the total construction cost in the bank. The Archdiocese then will loan the 2nd half at a lower than market interest rate. The parish fundraising will continue until the entire capital cost of the construction is paid for. As for an actual "date" that largely depends on the time frame and success of fundraising efforts.
2. What kind of fund raising programs will be used to collect monies for the new church build?
Currently, fundraising has been by specific donation to the "Corpus Christi Building Fund, and will continue on through the use of parishoners support of the "Shopping Card Program". Other more detailed efforts will be introduced and launched likely in the late summer to early fall once the church design and vision is revealed.
3. Can you explain what I've heard about the church being built in 2 phases?
What this means is that although the design will be completed in its totality at the beginning, there are plans to build the "Hall" component first. It will serve as a multi functional space with regular masses on Sunday, and secondary uses throughout the week. It will may also include small office facilities temporarily. The idea here is to get the 2 current Corpus Christi masses consolidating to one worship site, namely the new church site. It is expected that this will serve to join the 2 groups together and foster a single closer community of worship where we can truly be the Church of Corpus Christi.
